This year is going to be quite a tough Christmas for us with the baby due in February, a massive drop in my earnings and bills bills bills (and more bills) to pay.
I read a quote on Little Green Shed yesterday about buying presents for children -
Something they want
something they need
something to wear
something to read.
Such a lovely rhyme and one to definitely live by, not just for children but when buying for anybody. I often find myself buying hundreds of gifts for Evan at Christmas, just to see them gather dust for the rest of the year because he has his favourites and doesn't even remember he was bought the other things. This year, I will definitely not be putting us out of pocket over a one day holiday and will be buying him quality and not quantity. Ater all, Christmas is about spending time with your family and friends, not a competition of who can spend the most.
I for one will not be participating in the mass buying that everyone is doing this Black Friday. Yeah, it may be a great deal - but do you really need it?
Do you have a gift giving rule you live by?
